Cynthia Bahmani is a Certified Pilates Instructor, Balanced Body Konnector® Educator, and CoreAlign® Specialist and Workshop Presenter.
While studying dance at NYU, Cynthia had the privilege of learning Pilates from Kathleen Stanford Grant, one of Joseph Pilates’ original students. From 2000 to 2002, she worked in Sports Medicine as a Dance Medicine Specialist at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco, where she supported professional dancers and athletes with both injury recovery and prevention.
In 2002, she launched her own private practice in San Francisco, and in 2023, opened her namesake studio in San Anselmo, California.
Cynthia specializes in Classical Pilates with a highly personalized approach, drawing on her deep experience with a wide range of diagnoses, physical conditions, and pre- and post-surgical needs. Committed to staying current in the field, she maintains her own practice through twice-weekly classes for teachers and ongoing continuing education. She also holds certifications in both the Konnector® Reformer and CoreAlign® systems (stay tuned for website updates that explore these unique offerings.
In 2015, Cynthia began working with Dr. Allen Wood, DC, of San Francisco’s Ultimate Sports Medicine. Together, they developed a gait patterning system using the CoreAlign® and other Pilates apparatuses to train all four limbs as load-bearing, coordinated units—enhancing functional movement and neuromuscular integration.
This collaboration led to her first CoreAlign® workshop in 2019:
ROTATE and RECIPROCATE™: Gait Work and Beyond, which offers six CECs through the National Pilates Certification Program.
Cynthia teaches nationally and internationally, and has had the honor of working as a Pilates instructor on two Cirque du Soleil productions in the Bay Area: AMALUNA and KOOZA.
In 2023, she partnered with NYC-based physical therapist Lizz Smith to co-found GotStrongBones, a fitness initiative focused on bone health. Together, they co-lead Fitness for Bone Health Week at Rancho La Puerta Wellness Retreat in Tecate, Mexico.
Her motto: People first, Pilates second—meeting clients where they are and helping them move toward their best health.
Cynthia will be offering custom CoreAlign® workshops in July at A Body of Work in San Francisco, and Introduction to CoreAlign for Dancers in NYC in September 2025.
